The Town of Cape Charles is seeking a qualified and motivated Municipal Project Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Town Manager, this full-time leadership position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the Town's capital improvement and infrastructure projects from concept through completion. 

Required qualifications are:

  • Experience in, or closely related with, project management
  • Proven leadership ability and experience with multi-disciplinary teams and conflict resolution
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and management skills, with the ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Familiarity acquisition processes for design and engineering services, and facilities construction and rehabilitation
  • Strong technical skills including Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A background in construction management
  • Familiarity with the Virginia Public Procurement Act and state and federal grant administration
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as public policy, business or construction management
  • Local government experience and familiarity with municipal infrastructure

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with department heads on projects needed to replace facilities, improve services and respond to growth
  • Assist the Town Manager in developing the multi-year Capital Improvement Program and annual capital budget
  • Manage the capital project acquisition and delivery process
  • Capital lease negotiation
  • Evaluate and support economic development initiatives that involve significant public and/or private infrastructure investment
  • Field work to assess issue resolution and compliance with project requirements
  • Oversee the risk management program including insurance claims and annual renewals
  • Attend Town Council meetings as well as meetings assigned by the Town Manager 

This is an exempt position that reports directly to the Town Manager.
