Responsibilities:
The Planning Commission is a seven-member body appointed by the Town Council to review all land use and zoning matters in the Town of Cape Charles.
Applications submitted to the Town for changes of zoning districts, conditional use permits, zoning ordinance amendments, and comprehensive plan amendments, as well as other land use and zoning matters, are reviewed by the Planning Director and Town Staff. These applications will then be presented to the Commission along with recommendations from Town staff based on whether the requests are consistent with the Town’s policies, plans, and ordinances.
Commission members review staff reports and vote on the submitted applications during their monthly public hearing. That recommendation is then sent to the Town Council for a final decision.
Meetings:
The Planning Commission meets at 6 pm on the first Tuesday of every month in the Cape Charles Civic Center, 500 Tazewell Avenue.
Copies of the applications and any other pertinent information will be available online before the Commission Meeting.
Planning Commission meetings will be streamed live to the Town of Cape Charles Facebook Page and Cape Charles YouTube Channel.
