Mason Avenue Pump Station Out of Service
The Town of Cape Charles advises residents that the Mason Avenue Pump Station is currently out of service. As a result, raw sewage has backed up into the roadway and sidewalks in the area of Mason Avenue, Harbor Avenue and Bay Avenue.
For your safety, please avoid this area. Mason, Harbor and Bay Avenues in the affected area have been closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic until further notice.
Virginia American Water crews are on site and are actively working to restore service and make the necessary repairs. At this time, repairs are expected to take several hours.
Residents are also asked to refrain from flushing toilets whenever possible while repairs are underway. Reducing wastewater entering the system will help minimize additional backups and assist crews in restoring service as quickly as possible.
