NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN FOR THE TOWN

There‘s a new traffic pattern in the Town of Cape Charles on Route 184/Randolph Avenue at the intersection with Mason Avenue/Fig Street.

Our friends at VDOT have placed a STOP & Yield Sign at Fig & Route 184 (The former location of a STOP Sign and Except for Right Turn Sign). This is the area located just north of Rayfield’s Pharmacy.

The STOP Sign on Randolph Avenue facing east has been removed, as per VDOT’s study, and Route 184/Randolph Avenue is now a "free flow" traffic area.

The Town of Cape Charles originally requested a 4-way STOP Sign at this location but VDOT studied the situation and determined it wasn’t needed. VDOT has placed a "flashing" NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN Sign on Route 184/Randolph Avenue.

The Cape Charles Police Department will be monitoring this area to ensure compliance with this new traffic pattern.

We are now in the Hurricane Season and adverse weather is likely to occur on the Eastern Shore and everyone needs to be "individually ready".

The Town of Cape Charles has recently installed a Flood/Severe Weather Warning Siren in the Historic District of Town. It is located on Mason Avenue across the street from the service station. In the event that the siren goes off, please tune to one of the following broadcast stations for severe flood or weather information and directions.
